DIGITAL ELECTRONICS
The equipment required consists of the
Base Unit 2000, Lab Card 6, Digital Patch board S24 and a set
of components DG1.
The Lab Card 6 serves as a house alarm
and follows similar principals to the real thing.
Step by step the student learns different
functions of the alarm, its
connections and trouble shooting.
The education package in Digital Electronics
contains a Text book,
Experiment book, Teacher´s book and Exercise book. Every
effort
has been put into the layout and the teaching methods.
The laboratory package gives basic knowlege
of digital functions
and digital electronic circuits and their use in working apparatus
and electronic systems.
It also developes the student´s
ability to solve simple control sequence problems with circuitry
solutions of his or her own, using
digital electronic components.
Topics covered
The following topics are covered. The S24 and lab card (6) are
used where indicated below:
The transistor as a switch (S24)
The AND, OR, NOT, NAND and NOR gates (S24)
Logic families (S24), different types of output (S24)
NAND synthesis (S24)
Combinatory circuits (S24) + (6)
XOR AND XNOR (S24)
The comparator (6)
Decoder (S24)
BCD decoder (S24) and BCD to 7 segment decoder (6)
The demultiplexer (S24)
Encoder (S24)
The multiplexer (S24)
The Schmitt trigger (S24)
Astable multivibrator (6) and monostable multivibrator (S24)
The 555 (S24) + (6)
Bistable multivibrator (S24) + (6)
D-multivibrator (S24) + (6)
JK and T-multivibrator (S24)
Registers (S24) + (6)
Counters (S24) + (6)
Fault detection (6)
After the course the student
should be able to:
Locate and change wrong digital IC-circuits in simple electronic
apparatus.
Solve simple logic and sequence steering problems with the help
of digital electronic circuits.
Connect test and program digital IC circuits with the help of
manuals and information sheets.
Measure input and output signals in circuit, using an oscilloscope
and other measuring methods.
Establish truth tables for basic logical functions.
Interpret symbol diagrams in the logic circuit of the connection
diagram.
Explain the concept ESD-protection of electronic components.
