YO-YO FACTORY

These five modules makes a Yo-Yo factory.
Yo-Yo factory is a flexible training system in automation.
It consists of a number of stand alone laboratory modules, which together function as small-scale industrial manufacturing plants.
The units can be connected to one PLC for each unit and also in a line with fieldbus systems.
The module plates are fitted to special designed trolleys.
Plates and tables are made of aluminium profiles.
Operating panel, power supply and PLC that are located under the
plate can be pulled out like drawers.
The modules can be easily linked together in different combinations: A-B-C-D-E, A-C, A-D.
Each module has its own air filter and regulator.
The control system and the power supply are connected to the modules by two D-connectors.

Trolley
For one module.
Made of aluminium profiles 50x50 mm.
Turnable rubber wheels diameter 100mm that can be locked.

Control panel
A aluminium box that can be pushed into the trolley.
The operating panel functions are:
POWER ON, POWER OFF, EMERGENCY STOP, START and RESET.
A lamp in the POWER ON button indicates when the unit is on.

I/O Module
The modules A-E can be operated separate with a local control system like a PLC or operated from a central controller via a fieldbus system.
The I/O Module is a plate that can be pulled out from the trolley.
The PLC, D-connectors, power supply and relay for emergency stop is mounted on the plate.
Observe that the PLC must be ordered separately.
Solutions are made for Mitsubishi and Siemens PLC.

Module A Store
On the module A is a store made of a transparent tube.
It is filled by hand with mixed plastic black and white or aluminium
Yo-Yo discs.
An optical sensor tells if the store is not empty.
The piston rod of an pneumatic cylinder move the disc from the store over to the next module.
In this unit we can make exercises on sequens programming, cylinder force and cylinder speed.

Module B Quality control
Module B receives Yo-Yo half from the store station and uses an shuttle cylinder with a rotation disc that moves the Yo-Yo half to a thickness measurement with analog output, and further to an inductive sensor to determine if a metal Yo-Yo half is present.
Units made of metal or with wrong thickness are sorted out in two chutes Black and white plastic discs are moved to the next module.
In this unit we can make exercises on analogue gage, analogue PLC programming and adjustment of shuttle cylinder.

Module C Drilling
On module C is a conveyor belt that transport the disc to the mid position.
The disc is taken by a suction cup and placed in a fixture where an electric drilling machine makes a hole.
The disc is returned to the conveyor belt and moved to the next module.
In this unit we can make exercises on pneumatic and electrical components at the same time.

Module D Sorting
On module D is a chute with two optical sensors that tells if the incoming disc is black or white.
A portal pick-and-place unit with vacuum grip sorts out the discs in two chutes in which they rolls to the next module.
In this unit we can make exercises on different gauges.

Module E Mounting
Module E receives drilled colour separated Yo-Yo halves.
One of the discs is stopped in a station where an axle made of steel is mounted in the drilled hole.
Then the two discs with different colours are placed in a station where they are pushed together with the axle in center by a pneumatic cylinder.
In this unit we can make exercises on force.
